Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the list of key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, and the "Key Laboratory of Pediatric Anesthesiology of the Ministry of Education" applied by a team composed of Professor Jin Shengwei of our hospital as the person in charge and related researchers in anesthesiology was successfully approved for construction. This is the first key laboratory approved by the Ministry of Education in our hospital.

The Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education is an essential carrier for the "Double First-class" construction of colleges and universities, a vital part of the national science and technology innovation system, and a training base for innovative talents in colleges and universities. It plays an important role in the discipline construction, scientific and technological innovation, and talent training of colleges and universities.

The approved "Key Laboratory of Pediatric Anesthesiology of the Ministry of Education" focuses on the forefront of pediatric anesthesiology, centering on crucial and complex issues such as the impact of anesthesia on pediatric development, the mechanism and prevention of important organ function damage in the pediatric perioperative period, pediatric precision anesthesia pharmacology, the research and development and transformation of new pediatric anesthesia devices, etc. The operating mechanism of "laboratory-clinic-enterprise" is adopted to reduce organ damage, mortality, and complications while exploring a new anesthesiology development model, fully integrating resources, complementing mutual advantages, reaching interdisciplinarity, gathering talents, with a focus on applied basic research and achievement transformation and promotion. The laboratory will be built into a domestic first-class research base, talent training base, and research results transformation and promotion base with original innovation capabilities, contributing to "Healthy China 2030".

The Anesthesiology Department of our hospital has achieved vigorous development by relying on the platforms of Zhejiang Key Laboratory of Anesthesiology, Zhejiang Province’s Anesthesiology Support Discipline, Zhejiang Province's Top Priority Discipline, and Zhejiang Province's first-class discipline - Clinical Medicine. It has formed a characteristic discipline integrating medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research. It is a national first-class undergraduate professional construction point and the first clinical trial institution of anesthesia drugs of the National Medical Products Administration. In recent years, it has made significant breakthroughs in scientific research. In 2020, it was approved as a specific science and technology project for the national primary new drug creation - the Clinical Evaluation Platform for Pediatric Anesthesia Demonstration New Drugs. A high-quality article in the top journal JAMA was published in 2022. In 2021, it was ranked 7th in anesthesiology nationwide among the Science and Technology Evaluation Metrics (STEM) ranking.

Our hospital has made outstanding achievements in constructing discipline platforms in recent years. It has successively been approved as Zhejiang Clinical Research Center, Zhejiang Engineering Research Center, Zhejiang Key Laboratory, Zhejiang International Cooperation Carrier, etc. We have already achieved the "Grand Slam" for provincial scientific research platforms. Following the approval of the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education, it will bring greater help to the discipline construction of the hospital. In the future, our hospital will closely focus on the needs of clinical diagnosis and treatment and the significant needs of disease prevention and control, aim at the international forefront, gain insight into policy orientation, concentrate superior resources to plan higher-level scientific research platforms, further strengthen the construction of medical science and technology innovation system, optimize the organization mode of clinical medical research, and accelerate the promotion of technological innovation and achievement transformation in the health field.
